Discovery Environment is an online platform for running bioinformatics applications and analyzing data. It’s provided for free by CyVerse (previously known as iPlant Collaborative – www.cyverse.org), a project by the National Science Foundation, USA to develop computing infrastructure for life science research. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to sign up for an account and start using Discovery Environment.

Geneious plugin sources are now on Bitbucket
I just released my source code for two Geneious plugins, InterProScan and Augustus, on Bitbucket. Right now I’m working on upgrading the InterProScan plugin to InterProScan version 5. I should have a new version in a week or so. The Augustus plugin is still in early stages of development but it runs, so if you need it or want to try it out, just let me know. Eventually I’ll put a project page up here and link to downloads of the alpha versions.
